Keep Calm and Party On

Hey! Hey! Turn up for Party Day! Two parties. One day. Endless spirit. Party Day at Girls State is a high-energy celebration of spirit, color, and competition. Delegates dress head-to-toe in their party’s colors — green for Nats and purple for Feds — to show pride and rally support for their nominees. Each of the six parishes sent a nominee from their caucus, and when primaries hit on June 10, it was game on. If you thought politics couldn’t be fun, you’ve clearly never been to Girls State on Party Day! Whether you were chanting on the sidelines or giving your first campaign speech, Party Day reminded everyone what leadership looks like.

From sunrise to lights out, the spirit didn’t stop. "Nats, get the gat!" echoed throughout the ballroom, answered quickly by “Feds, get that bread!” We screamed, cheered, clapped, and sang for our candidates till our voices gave out, literally. The energy was unreal.

But the best part? It wasn’t just about competition. Even with all the hype, chants, and party spirit, we were more than a divide of purple and green. We helped each other with speeches, encouraged each other in debates, and hyped each other up before big moments. Underneath all the rivalry was real respect and growing friendship. At first, I was nervous — giving speeches, meeting new people, stepping into leadership. But throughout the week, I found myself becoming more confident, more open, and more proud of my voice. At the root was not just politics, but unlocking all of our potential. By the end, I had learned how to craft a great speech, made awesome friends, and built a level of confidence I’ll carry with me long after Girls State. Because here, we weren't just delegates — we were sisters. And that’s what made it more than just Party Day. It was Party Week, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Girls State is truly the best in all the land and something every girl should experience. A week of summer with memories worth a lifetime!
